After many years of shooting Fuji cameras, I have switched to Canon because of their fantastic autofocus systems, ergonomic layouts, and beautiful color representation

Canon EOS R5 Mark II
My primary camera body for landscape and wildlife photography.

Canon EOS R6 Mark II
Ashley's primary camera body, and my backup camera when in the field.
These lenses all use a common 77mm filter thread, which makes this a very attractive option when portability is a concern but image quality is still paramount.

My workhorse lens - its on the camera more than any other lens I own and the results speak for themselves. Extremely versatile for all genres and great single lens for travel and backpacking.

My most used telephoto lens with great reach out to 500mm while still fitting nicely in a backpack.

Fantastic wide-angle lens that is great for landscapes. Lighter than the f2.8 option and just a bit wider too.
These lenses are a great option when you have a specific use case in mind to get the perfect shot.

A bit heavier and larger than it's f4 cousin, this is a remarkable lens for low-light situations such as Milky Way astrophotography.

Fast and crazy sharp lens. It's often on my second body for wildlife wide shots. It's Ashley's primary portrait lens too.

Big Bertha. She is large, heavy, and needs great light to work with. But when you absolutely need the reach the 800mm max zoom comes in handy for close up wildlife and small birds.

Versatile lens capable of stunning portraits even in low light and a macro lens capable of close-up imagery at 1.4x magnification.

Unique ultra-wide-angle lens that gives corrected, rectilinear coverage out to 10mm in a compact lens! Great for a dramatic look in landscapes and also great for interior architecture shots.

Exceptionally wide and fast lens, this will be my new lens for nightscape photography for Aurora and Milky Way shots
I've used many brands over the years with mixed results. My current selection from ProMedia Gear is expensive, but bombproof. If you believe in "buy once, cry once" this is the way to go.

TR344L Carbon Fiber - 4 sections 71" height
Lightweight, but sturdy. This is the only tripod I've found with metal locking clamps for maximum durability. Tall enough to kick the leg out far in front of you when you are shooting on a hill. The red color is fun too!

BH1 "Sputnik" Acra Type Ball Head
I was sick of other heads drooping after I would compose the perfect shot. This ball head has a very large control knob that is easy to use even in cold weather with bulky gloves on. Surprisingly lightweight even if it is on the bulkier side.

GT2R Tomahawk Gimbal Attachment
This add-on device pairs perfectly with the BH1 Ball Head. It's super easy to throw in the backpack and forget about until it's needed for wildlife or fast action sports photography.

Acra-Swiss L-Bracket for Canon R5 and R6
A L-bracket allows quick changes from portrait to landscape orientations. This unique design pushes the "L" portion forward which allows for full articulation of the LCD screen and doubles as a handle. Also includes a QD port on the bottom plate which is useful for quickly attaching a camera strap.
My family often makes fun of me for how many backpacks I've owned. I've tried F-Stop, Shimoda, Tenba, Peak Designs, and others; but nothing compares to the features and construction of Nya-Evo Camera Bags. I own every bag and accessory they make and rotate between them depending on the amount of gear I need for a project! Most of their bags have a useful drybag roll-top to keep wet gear separate from your expensive camara equipment.

Fjord 60C Gen 4 ECONYL Backpack
This versatile backpack has a compact 44 liter mode, but can expand to 60 liters while still compliant with international airline overhead bins. Today I tend to use this only when I need to travel with my longer wildlife lenses or when also needing to bring camping equipment.

Fjord 50C ECONYL Adventure Pack
Nya-Evo's newest bag is just slightly smaller for when I'm wanting to travel lighter but still take a full complement of lenses and cameras. Today it is my most used bag.

Fyord 36C Gen 4 ECONYL Everyday Bag
All the great features, but in a compact size. I use this bag whenever I travel for work, but want to take a couple lenses with me "just in case." I also use this bag a lot when I go on a short day hike and want to just carry one camera and a couple lenses, plus water, jacket and first-aid kit.

Large Removable Camera Insert (RCI)
Nya-Evo makes removable camera modules in Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large. I find the Large version to be the best fit for the amount of gear I normally want to travel with. Your needs may vary from mine, but make sure you pick at least one for your camera bag!
These are the bits and bobs that make your photography experience a bit easier when in the field.

LP-E6P Lithium-Ion Battery
Trust me--I've tried the other generic brands and they just don't last as long. Just buy the OEM brand battery and forget about running out of power in the field.

Tri-Charge for Canon LP-E6
This is a great portable charger that also has SD card storage built into the top of the unit. USB-C div means I don't have to stress about another travel plug converter.

Atlas Pro CFexpress Type B
Other World Computing (OWC) is my preferred brand of memory cards for the Canon R5 and R6 models. I currently use a 512MB model which gives me plenty of space. These cards are super fast when shooting high burst modes for wildlife and sports.

Magnetic Linear Polarizer Kit
I absolutely love MAVEN filters for their color coded and knurled edges which makes it easy to tell the filters apart. These filters use a magnetic mounting ring which makes them easy to take on/off and they have no color casting on your images like some other brands.

Atlas SD Card
The R5's second card bay and both of the R6's card slots utilize a SD card for storage. OWC is my current brand of choice after card failures from other brands.

Slide Lite Neckstrap
This is the perfect size neckstrap when you need a comfortable carry option when travelling. Its adjustable and easy to remove thanks to it's on/off snaps that you can leave installed on your camera body when the strap isn't needed or wanted.
Despite the recent US regulatory crack-down on Chinese made drones, DJI products remain the gold standard for aerial photography. I recommend picking up the current models while they are still licensed by the FCC for operation in America.

This drone is amazing for its stability in windy conditions and has three cameras packaged in a 360 degree gimbal. I went with the creator combo edition which has a brighter flip-out screen, but the other controls work equally as well.

This was my first drone, and I still love it for it's ability to slot easily into my backpack.

I don't personally own this model, but I'm including it as the latest offering from DJI for an ultra-portable drone. They have many many upgrades since the Mini 3 Pro model and I'm confident it will be a great option for aspiring drone photographers
These products are useful, but not absolutely necessary, for long exposures nightscape photography. When using a star tracker, you need a mounting head both below and above the tracker for proper setup.

Nomad Star Tracker
Star trackers mount below your camera and rotate at the same speed that the Earth rotates. It allows you to "freeze" the stars in place for ultra-long exposures necessary for low-noise Milky Way photography

Ultimate Ballhead
This head from premium manufacture Acratech has an angled shape that is both lightweight and lends itself to ease of use composing your shot while your camera is on a star tracker

Panoramic Head
The angle markings at the side of this panoramic head make it very useful for setting your latitude when polar aligning your star tracker. This was also my go-to head for landscape photography and still the head I reach for when I need a lightweight and portable head.

LS-284CEX Ranger with Leveling Base
When using the Acratech Panoramic head, you need a convenient way to level to base. You could add a separate leveling base to the ProMediaGear tripod listed above, but this Leofoto option helpfully has a leveling base built into its design.
